Groundbreaking Ceremony for Poyner Elementary
The groundbreaking ceremony for Poyner Elementary School was held on Friday, May 5, 2006. The event was held at Bunger
Middle School.
Elk Run bussed their students and staff to Bunger and Jewett opted to walk, except one class chose to be bussed. We really
filled the gym. Their were past principals invited to attend, along with various other local dignitaries from both Elk Run
and Evansdale. The oldest member of the Poyner family was also in attendance.
It was a very nice ceremony with many speakers. Students from both Elk Run and Jewett had learned a song and the program
was closed with them all rocking the gym with their voices.

Mrs. Zeigler, The future Poyner Elementary principal is currently serving at Elk Run. For the 2006/07 she will be the principal
for Elk Run and Jewett. Jewett and Elk Run will combine schools to make Poyner for the 2007/08 school year.
